Physical design

The physical design details the logic design, where each major infrastructure component is already present, at a high level (but with the right design decisions and motivations), along with the physical layer, including the hardware and software components, the installation procedure, the configuration, and so on. Hardware sizing, for both the capacity and the performance aspects, could be assisted by the initial assessment of an existing infrastructure, as will be described in Chapter 3, Analysis and Assessment of an Existing Environment.

You have to size the ESXi hosts, but also the different vSphere and infrastructure components, such as the vCenter Server, or other needed virtual appliances, such as a storage management console (or server).
